society and branch honours
Two members of our Society have been awarded the RSCDS Scroll of Honour. Di Rooney, our Branch Teacher and a former Convenor of the RSCDS Education & Training Committee, received her award from Jean Martin in 2018.
More recently, Sue Duckett was presented with her Scroll in recognition of her substantial contribution to the world of Scottish Country dancing by means of “The Wee Green Book” of Scottish Country Dances in Diagrams, an essential item in every teacher’s and dancer’s toolkit. Here she is at the Branch AGM in 2024 with Trish Reid who championed her nomination and Anne MacDonald, Chairperson of Cheshire Branch.

Two of our members have also received the Branch Award for their outstanding contribution to the enjoyment of Scottish Country Dancing.
Liz Bruynooghe was presented with a Branch Award in 2012 for her painstaking work with many generations of beginners and she was granted Life Membership of the Branch at our 2025 AGM.
Don Johnson received his Branch Award in 2025 for his work with our ‘Music Makar’ system, a wonderful tool for teachers, which provides the music for our classes and informal social dances.

The Cheshire Wyche Ball 2023

Our Guests of Honour were William Williamson, Chair of RSCDS, and his wife, Linda. William is pictured below with Anne MacDonald, Chair of RSCDS Cheshire, Denise Morrison, President of Northwich Scots’ Society and Christine Grove, President of Nantwich & District Scottish Society. We danced to wonderful music by Susan MacFadyen and her Band and our celebration cake was baked by Jane Longman.
